Tusculum U. Health & Safety Expectations

Tusculum U. Health & Safety Expectations
Why this petition matters
Tusculum University has reasonable expectations of healthy and safe living spaces. However, we as residents also have reasonable expectations of comfort and leisure in our own living spaces. With the new rules being implemented by Tusculum's Student Affairs office, we as residents feel as the University is being intrusive to our personal use of the living spaces that we are paying for. The new rules state that we can not have dirty dishes in the sink, laundry on our floor or bed (clean or dirty), etc. These things are not a danger to our health or living conditions nor does it damage, put school property, or others at risk.
With Tusculum being made up of a majority of athletes, these expectations are unrealistic and out of hand. We as students are attending University and living on our own to enhance our responsibility and life skills. We as young adults should be learning to do these things on our own to be successful in life, not under the control of power other than ourselves, our roommates, or our parents/guardians.
By signing this petition we are hoping that the new rules for health and safety checks and expected living conditions will be revised to reasonable expectations that were previously held.
