TCM is one of the only great channels. It plays classic films and provides a historical perspective into them. Recently, a number of cable channels dropped TCM because of the almighty judge: money. Customers are not willing to pay the cable companies extra for one channel, partly because it is so infuriating that they would do such a thing. But, well, they would be willing to work with TCM directly. Pay for some sort of streaming, either of the channel itself or something similar to Netflix (who carries a deplorable amount of classic films).
