Tumblr: Do not allow hateful messages to be sent to Tumblr accounts

For many Tumblr users, Tumblr is a safe haven, a place to connect with people with the same interests, to educate or be educated on local and global problems, to share art, ideas, and movements with each other. But for many, it is place of constant hate and negative comments. A place where their self esteem drops to nothing. Tumblr becomes a place some people have to leave or take long breaks from because of anonymous messages being sent to them. Saying stuff such as "You're ugly, fat, and stupid", "Go Die", "You deserve pain" and other messages being sent to suicidal users encouraging them to take their lives. Messages like that should NOT EVEN BE ALLOWED TO BE SENT. Please support this petition if you agree.

Saying stuff such as "You're ugly, fat, and stupid", "Go Die", "You deserve pain" and other messages being sent to suicidal users encouraging them to take their lives. This is not okay whatsoever. But we are not naïve, we know there are a some ways to control messages, but our argument is this: messages like that should NOT EVEN BE ALLOWED TO BE SENT. We want solutions for a better and safer community, and we know it is possible. So no excuses, we know you can do it. Please Tumblr, if you create some form of filter, or eliminate the anonymous option, do SOMETHING, we could seriously save lives. This is so important to us, and we know it is for you too. Hurtful words can stick with you for your whole life, but YOU have the power to end that.

Please take this letter and comments from signers into consideration.
Thank you very much.
