Some select freshmen have been permitted to use meal swipes at Commons Marketplace, leaving all other students with less options to eat. Intentional or not, it does feel like a slap in the face to those who are less economically fortunate and want to have more variety with the few meal swipes they have. Regardless, it is simply unfair to exclude students who pay just as much for the meal plan from a group of students who are now allowed to use meal swipes at Commons Marketplace. After last year, Tufts University left students undisputedly dissatisfied when they removed Commons Marketplace and Hotung Café from the meal plan for the 2021-2022 school year. If it was added on the meal plan just for Covid-19, then why can’t it apply now, when restrictions have minimally loosened. IT IS JUST ONE MORE PLACE TO EAT, TUFTS! As for the students living in Hyatt, give them a little off housing, increase accommodations or something if they were forced to live there.
