On April 19th two male teens armed with a knife broke in to a house in Mastic beach to steal money and other valuables. A 23 year old mother and her 3 year old child locked themselves in a room to protect them selves. The two robbers busted down the door, took the 23 year old woman, slashed her with the knife, undressed her and proceeded to rape her all in front of her 3 year old child. The robber also attempted to grab ahold of the child before the mother grabbed her and ran down the street naked looking for help. The two robbers left the residents with Money and other valuable items. 

One of the two teens who is 14 was arrested within 24 hours, and will be charged with "first degree rape, criminal sexual Act of the first degree, Two counts of assault in the first degree, two counts of burglary in the first degree, sexual abuse in the first degree, strangulation in the second degree, and endangering the wall fare of a child"

SCPD is currently withholding the name of the rapist since he is 14 and he will be tried as a minor. If convicted he will only be facing a sentence of 5-10 years. After that he will be free to terrorize our community again. The 23 year old victim and her child will be forever scared by the actions of these two teens that day. 

In the state of California (which has some of the most relaxed crime laws) a 14 year old would be able to be tried as an adult if the crime includes rape or robbery with a weapon, (https://www.courts.ca.gov/selfhelp-delinquency.htm?rdeLocaleAttr=en which in this case both occurred. In New York for some unknown reason he is still allowed to be tried as a minor. 

By signing this petition you demand that SCPD to try these individuals as an adult for their crimes, not minors, and that they get the maximum sentence allowable by law. Additionally we also ask SCPD to release the name of the rapist to the public.
