Reinstate Michelle Baharier now and save CoolTan Arts

I am supporting a very dear friend who is in a dreadful situation and as had a gagging order placed on her. I have been acting as a spokes person on her behalf. Most of you will know Michelle Baharier Chief executive of CoolTan Arts.

During a period of ill health and not being able to work her board of trustees have turned against her and suspended her, along with host of malicious claim’s being made against her. The Trustee’s closed the charity for a nine day period without explanation causing a great deal of stress and anxiety leaving the people feeling vulnerable who gain so much from being at CoolTan.

Over the years the charity has received ‘The Queens Award for Volunteering’ ‘Eon Glaxo Kline Smith Impact Award, in partnership with the kings Fund’ ‘Mental Health Providers Forum Citizen and User Voice Award’ two years running. CoolTan was the first charity in country to develop its own ‘Self Advocacy Course’ and the ‘The Southwark Award for Diversity in arts’. It is one of the best disabled people’s charities in the UK.

Michelle has spent the last 25 years building up CoolTan Arts and as touched and improved the lives of thousands in the Southwark area. She has raised millions of pounds with a series of annual events including the ‘Largactally Shuffle Walk’ ‘Cool Walks’ ‘Southwark Stories’  and helping to fight the stigma of mental health in the arts and is consistently pushing the boundaries in raising the platform for art in mental health. She has always been an inspiration to me and thousands of other people.

Michelle would especially like to reach out to all who used to squat at CoolTan from 1991 to 1995 to sign the petition.

Patrons of the charity include TV chef Rosemary Shrager and International Artist Maggi Hambling
