Increasing the number of social workers, counselors and psychologists in schools provides additional support for our children and students. These professionals can assist in providing services for our children to include mental health counseling, classroom interventions, explaining graduation requirements and discussing safety plans. Currently, our schools fall below the national average and recommended ratios for the number of professionals to children. Through additional professional support, our students, school faculty members and communities can find a sense of comfort when sending their children to school while our children have aid in find a sense of belonging within their educational setting.
