Vancouver Heights Residents Against 3648 East Hastings Methadone Clinic
This petition made change with 297 supporters!
It has recently come to our attention that the City of Vancouver is considering a proposal to approve a Development Application at 3648 East Hastings St (Hastings and Kootaney St) for an IMed pharmacy, the purpose of this facility is to Dispense Methadone.
The approval date of July 7th, 2014 is rapidly approaching and we need to let them know that we do Not want this in our neighbourhood.
Vancouver Heights is the wrong location for a facility like this, as we have a quite residential neighbourhood that would have a pre-school and elementary school, one block from the facility.
The implications of having a site like this in a family neighbourhood range from drug dealing in the vicinity to hazardous waste for our children to find, such as discarded needles as the junkies go to the school yard looking for a secluded places to use.
These sites are difficult to police and a huge concern is that this will also bring many unsavoury strangers into the area, which have the possibility of increasing crime and threatening public safety.
Please make it known that we are COMPLETELY OPPOSED to this and will not stand by and just watch it happen.
This is NOT the downtown east side Main/Hastings corridor and this facility is NOT welcome here.
Please sign the petition and forward it to others to let the City know how you feel.
