At CFI #2, students have historically been able to visit 2-4 high schools in their 7th and 8th-grade years to reduce anxiety over the transition to a significantly different environment. A recently planned high school tour has been canceled by IPS, and as an 8th-grade student, this is very concerning.

          As a student, I have been very privileged by being able to visit high schools on my own time. This, I can sadly say, is not the case with all CFI #2 8th grade families, and I believe that all families have the right to an informed decision regarding their child's further education.

        This petition's goal is to help to create a more stable transition between school communities and to encourage more wise and educated decisions. This goal will be accomplished if the IPS administrators will allow all CFI 8th graders to have in-school tours of at least 2 high schools.
