Phones to be allowed in school as they were before
Phones to be allowed in school as they were before
This petition is for rights of Trinity students for the allowance of mobile phones on the school premises.
We believe keeping phones with students is necessary due to emergency circumstances such as transportation needs, family confidentiality, mental health and communication. Many students also use their phones for educational purposes such as: homework, revision, in-class online quizzes, an electronic timetable, coursework purposes (image sharing/portfolio work), language dictionaries and sending/receiving emails to/from teachers.
The use of phones also prevents the spreading of Covid-19 by online communication to teachers instead of having face to face contact and not needing to hand out resources like language dictionaries in class-where it is unnecessary to do so with phones being available. We also believe adding this rule so late confuses students and leaves them with no alternatives to the strong reliance they already have with their phones.
