Recently, Trinity High School announced the cancellation of their in-person graduation reception on July 30th. Due to the current state of affairs in our world today, Trinity, understandably, did not feel it was right to host a full scale graduation ceremony on the set date. Instead, the school elected to potentially hold a reception during the Thanksgiving break. We believe this does not properly honor the numerous and profound accomplishments the Class of 2020 has achieved. Several schools in the area have opted to give their seniors a drive-by graduation while others held an outdoor graduation ceremony featuring a livestream, masks, and proper social distancing. There are other safe options the school can look into besides completely cancelling graduation. We feel the only way to properly honor the Class of 2020 is a marked send off before everyone goes their separate ways in the fall. Trinity means so much to this graduating class and they deserve to be recognized properly. We propose Trinity High School considers a drive through graduation or outdoor, socially distanced graduation ceremony on the originally specified date of July 30th.
