To allow music at Trinity Episcopal School

At trinity, we (the student body) have been allowed to listen to music while writing on our computers in order to help us focus on the task and not focus on talking to other students. This year, mainly in English related classes, the level of student distraction has been much higher.
The reason for this rule is that somebody found a study that music distracts people. Well, this Stanford study shows that music does help with concentration. But, that is just with classical music, which no middle schooler would ever voluntarily listen too, Right? Well not according to this independent article, which states that any music really could help you study.
And this brings me to my last point, it depends on the person. Some people can't focus with music, but it should be their choice to decide. If some people can't focus, it shouldn't make the entire community suffer from this rule. One of Trinity's core values is community, and by making this rule it hurts that value.
