Annonymous Speaker started this petition to Trigg County Middle School

Schools are tending to worry more about what you wear other than education. What we wear should not matter. The dress code is also unfair and highly sexist. The whole dress code is based around women and the “distraction” that our body’s are. Basically stating our shoulders, legs, belly’s, etc. are distracting. When a man wears shorts or shirts that show their shoulders nobody says anything. Sometimes it even has to do with certain people who get dress coded. Not only gender but also race. We go to school to learn NOT play dress up. Teaching students that their body is distracting is disgusting and repetitive. It also shows that sexualizing someone based off their appearance is okay. Another reason we need dress code to be taken down is because not everyone has the money to afford dress code. Some students could have less fortune to buy clothes that cover every “distracting” part of their body. If that’s the case we all may as well get a school uniform instead of having to buy specific clothes to wear to school. PLEASE take this into consideration. Students need to be taught to think of eachother equally and NOT sexualize ANYONE for that matter. Thank you for your time and hopefully you agree.
