Michelle Bouschor started this petition to Native American Government and

The Tribal Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Tribal-ISAC), a division of not-for-profit 501c3 Tribal Share, Inc.,is asking the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for consideration of financial support in helping us achieve our important goal of improving the overall security posture of Native American tribal governments, all of their operations and enterprises, including Alaska Native communities, villages and organizations.

Tribal-ISAC was formed in January 2020 as a trusted platform for security threat information sharing, threat prevention and preparedness, community support and response to incidents, and as a managed and trusted collaboration group for sovereign Native American governments. We have made cyber security preparedness and education a particular emphasis. In our first year of formation, and with very limited resources, we have grown to just over 100 Tribal-ISAC Members representing federally recognized tribes across the United States.

Although we have gained significant momentum and recognition throughout this past year, we have a long way to go to attain a primary Tribal-ISAC objective of reaching and including all federally recognized tribes as active members. Currently, the Tribal-ISAC is funded only by small annual membership fees and supported entirely by volunteer boards, committees and working groups. Our Tribal-ISAC Members are engaged and supportive, but we lack the financial resources to grow our capabilities and to reach and support every tribe.

The Tribal-ISAC Steering Committee is sending in the request for funding to The Honorable Alejandro Mayorkas, Secretary of Homeland Security this week (11/29/2021). We are asking for your signature on this petition as a show of support for this request for consideration of funding, which will support the Tribal-ISAC and the general improvement of cybersecurity resources for Native American tribal governments.

Members of the Tribal-ISAC Steering Committee include Toni Pepper, Chief Information Technology Officer of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians; Lee Edberg, IT Cybersecurity Manager of Mystic Lake Casino Hotel, Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community; Bill Travitz, Director, Office of Information Technology, Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians; and Michael Day, Executive Officer of TribalHub.
