Mellow Johnny's Bike Shop has terminated its contracts with the Austin, Texas Police Department since some of the employees do not feel comfortable selling bicycles to police officers.

Bicycles are an important tool that allow law enforcement officers to safely be mobile in crowded events, and also allow community policing and the ability to establish stronger relationships between the department and its citizens.  This decision by Mellow Johnny's is a slap in the face to APD and officers everywhere as well as to those who serve their communities in other capacities.

I ask that Trek Bicycles, Cannondale Bicycles, and Electra Bicycles cancel their relationship with Mellow Johnny's and no longer recognizes them as an authorized retailer or service center.  I will be disposing of my Trek if this is not resolved and not buying any brand sold by Mellow Johnny's until this is resolved, and those who have signed this petition have vowed to do the same.
