• The Capital Crescent Trail between Bethesda, MD and Silver Spring, MD is a unique 3 mile park/recreational area serving hundreds of thousands of walkers, bikers, runners, children and other users yearly.

• I oppose the Maryland Transportation Administration’s current Purple Line plan to construct a double‐tracked, light rail system on the Capital Crescent Trail.

• I oppose this plan because it requires the deforestation of 48 acres of invaluable mature forest ecosystem inside the Washington Beltway.

• I want this area to be preserved as parkland.

• I urge the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration to reject the MTA’s request for funding to build the Purple Line on the Capital Crescent Trail.

I oppose Maryland Transportation Administration’s current Purple Line plan to construct a double‐tracked, light rail system on the Capital Crescent Trail between Silver Spring and Bethesda, MD because of the 48 acres of deforestation, 20 acres serve as a unique 3 mile, park/recreational for one million walkers, bikers, runners, and children yearly.

I urge the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Federal Transit Administration and the US Congress to reject the MTA’s request for funding to build the Purple Line on the Capital Crescent Trail.
