Perry Barr has again been let down again. Plans for a new station were revealed January and it was meant to be part of a European style travel interchange.

However, new plans have been submitted for a tin box which will double as a train station.

The new design does not meet any of the guidelines needed for a new station to be an asset to the community.

Architects and train station experts across the country have lambasted the design with it being described as "the worst train station design ever" and that it looks like a contractors hut not an actual station.

The Athletes village will not be ready for the Commonwealth Games robbing Perry Barr of actually hosting an international event the train station scandal is another let down for the area.

Six shops and businesses have been evicted to make way for the new station which would have been understandable if the new station had retail space but now it has none.

This could have been a focal point for Perry Barr, instead the train station will be an embarrassment which local people will have to live with.

The Commonwealth Games in 2022 was meant to be once in a lifetime investment chance to create a new Perry Barr, the shockingly bad train station is an example how it will go down as a massive let down.
