John Baines started this petition to Travel restrictions and

Changes to the Australian Biosecurity legislation will require, from 11 August 2021, Australians to seek an exemption in order that they may leave Australia to resume their lives as expatriates. What biosecurity risk do all the expatriate Australians currently residing in Australia present to their fellow citizens by leaving the country to resume their life and work overseas? Recent changes to the legislation have been introduced making it compulsory to apply for an exemption so that expats may leave Australia. Citizens who entered the country prior to the legislative changes could be forced to remain in Australia against their wishes. Many Australians will have expatriate family members that have returned to Australia to be reunited with their family for a variety of reasons. Many of those expatriates have loved ones in their overseas place of residence to whom they wish to return. They have a right to do so. In a democratic country how can the rights of its people be compatible with the restrictions imposed by the biosecurity legislation. Many of us have expatriate family members, many of us have friends, neighbours  and colleagues who have expatriate family members. This amendment to the biosecurity legislation impacts across Australia and needs to be rejected by Australians.
