Pedestrian signal lights needed at Shaughnessy and Nacht Street crosswalk

The crosswalk at Shaughnessy Street and Nacht in Port Coquitlam is not safe for crossing. The posted speed limit is 50km but motorists are driving at speeds of at least 20-30 km over the speed limit. In addition, vehicles are parking too close to the crosswalk which blocks the view of oncoming traffic. Pedestrians have to walk out past the cars just to be seen by oncoming traffic. This in itself is a hazard especially when cars are speeding. Parents, children and seniors are fearful to cross, especially before/after school and in the dark as the lighting is very poor.
Please sign this petition in support of pedestrian signal lights at this crosswalk. Let the city know your concerns and personal stories. This petition will be presented to the City of Port Coquitlam Transportation Solutions and Public Works Committee on December 13, 2017. It takes a community to make change. Let's work together to make this crosswalk safe!
