When I lived in northbridge and Willoughby and worked in chatswood i regularly caught this bus. Also when I moved to Northern beaches I used this bus a bit. I imagine the French's forest people need it! They have such poor transport.
HELP SAVE THE 136 Route NOW!
The 136 Bus Service Chatswood to Dee Why travels via Eastern Valley Way (East Roseville & Castle Cove) - Smith Street - High Street - Victoria Avenue (Chatswood East / North Willoughby). It is the only regular service for all the residents of Chatswood East and North Willoughby and Castle Cove. The State Government had approved the cancellation of this critical public transport service.
We have a large retirement village, many families, students, single people and people living with disabilities and an industrial zone.
Our older children rely on this service to travel to school, part time work and for social activities, especially after hours.
We also have an industrial area where workers travel from Chatswood station to work. In future years a major supermarket will set up in the area too.
Furthermore, as a society and a community - we need to do all we can to encourage more people to use public transport. It will help reduce green house gases, reduce growth in car traffic, and offers health benefits (greater incidental exercise associated with public transport use).
The loss of this service would result in our children having to walk past at least two brothels at night time (an issue about late night drunk clientele) , through isolated parks, and steep terrain.
The service was a major reason for many families such as mine to reside in the area.
The Premier is our local member and I hope this petition from our local community to her, will help her understand just how important this service is to us. We don't ask for much from our Government in this area. In fact I believe we punch above our weight and give much more than we get.
Given the importance of local communities and being connected, I would respectfully ask for your support to encourage the Government to investigate this matter with haste and help us maintain this 136 service through our neighbourhoods.
We require the continuance of this service through our neighbourhoods and on the similar schedule that has operated hitherto.
I look forward to your support with this matter and receiving a positive response from our local member, the Premier of NSW Gladys Berejiklian
Yours Sincerely Andrew James
