Glebe Island Bridge Renewal (GIBR) Project

Glebe Island Bridge Renewal (GIBR) Project
The Glebe Island Bridge is a historic dormant infrastructure that will potentially succumb to the NSW State Government's growing unstated policy of ‘demolition by neglect.’ The significant waste of such a scarce dormant built resource and embodied energy through such a demolition indicates a disregard for the environment and would be an irresponsible move by the same Government that claims to promote and advocate for the construction of cycle and pedestrian ways across the city.
The Glebe Island Bridge Renewal (GIBR) project aims to firstly create awareness of such an important infrastructure that could be positively used for the betterment of the community in the urban renewal of the Sydney Harbour foreshore.
If you wish contribute to this important campaign, to see the historic Glebe Island Bridge be re-integrated into the public realm, please sign our petition. This petition will be presented to local council members and Transport for NSW in the hope that the community, its representatives and the Government bodies that have the potential to make an extraordinary public space are able to work together in achieving something exceptional.
