Review of the contract awarded for Uk underground trains to be built In Austria

0 have signed. Let’s get to 2,500!

There's a number of reasons why the UK have been let down on this deal. Its happened far to often in the past and it simply cant go on.

£1.5billion pound contract was offered to Siemens to build the London Undergrounds Piccadilly Line. Siemens had initially said they would build a new factory in Goole but that wont be operational until 2023 when the new trains are expected to be running according to MP Phil Wilson. However it has been revealed that two thirds of the 94 trains will be built in Vienna.

It gets worse, on the 31st of January in my home town of Newton Aycliffe in the North East train builder Hitachi which opened in 2013 at the cost of £82million and employs over 1000 staff cementing train building in the north east for years to come. Sadly when Hitachi missed out on this deal with Siemens it meant come spring 2020 Hitachi and its thousands of staff will be out of work. While a contract that could of safeguarded them, was awarded to Austria.

This petition is for the Transport for London and London mayor Sadiq Khan to reconsider who they reward the contact to and give serious consideration to Hitachi as Siemens have let down the UK. UK trains should be built in the UK.
