The 53 bus has been cut back without consultation. We need this vital link to central London, used by people from all walks of life, running at full strength once again.
Thousands of people from Charlton, Woolwich, Plumstead, Blackheath, Greenwich and Deptford use the 53 to travel to work in central London each day.
But since 17 January, the route has been cut short at Lambeth North, forcing many to take two buses to complete their journeys - increasing the costs of their trips to work.
The curtailment was due to end when roadworks at Westminster Bridge finished in March. It was then due to finish in April.
But we're now in May and the 53 is still stopping short - costing passengers money and wasting their time.
Cutting the 53 by stealth is unacceptable. We call on Transport for London to reinstate the 53 along its full route immediately, to help residents in Charlton and neighbouring areas get to the jobs they and our capital city depend on.
