We need a lift at South Acton station!
South Acton station services thousands of local residents, including many young families (parents with pushchairs), the elderly and wheelchair users or persons suffering other mobility impairments. There has been a massive investment in new homes (publicly and privately owned) and an influx of residents as a result.
However there is no lift for residents to use meaning that to get across the train tracks (to go between Chiswick and Acton) or cross platforms, you have to go up and down the stairs to use the footbridge OR (for those unable to use the stairs) walk around the station through an industrial estate that often has broken glass, chemical emissions billowing out of the units, dead rats on the pavement and other dangerous matter. It's dimly lit in the evenings and the detour can add 10-15 minutes to the journey. The pavement is uneven, full of potholes and has steep inclines. Very dangerous for the vulnerable people who are most likely to have to use the detour. We want to see a simple lift installed at South Acton to assist residents and improve accessibility and quality of life.
