Why this petition matters

Started by Egor Satyr

On February 28th, after the introduction of strict sanctions to pressure the Russian Federation to stop its war in Ukraine, a Ukrainian built Antonov An-124 [RA-82078] "Ruslan" cargo plane has been impounded by the Canadian Government. This plane is now parked on the tarmac at Toronto's Pearson Airport (YYZ).

Russia is currently in possession of 400 foreign leased aircraft that it needs to return to its foreign owners once the lease is up. It is currently planning on keeping set fleet of aircraft worth $10 billion dollars and to re-register them for use by Russian airlines in and around Russia.

As of February 27th, Russian Federation forces destroyed the only largest cargo airplane in the world, Antonov An-225 "Mriya" while it was undergoing repairs at an Antonov Airport in Hostomel, Ukraine.

Russia's war in Ukraine, my homeland, has turned numerous cities the size of Miami and Chicago in to rubble, has dislocated millions of Ukrainians within the borders of Ukraine and to its neighbouring nations states, has caused the deaths of tens of thousands of civilians and in some cases intentional genocide of the local population sanctioned by Kremlin itself. Russian forces are shelling humanitarian corridors, raping women and children, use banned ammunition, steal civilian property, torture Ukrainian citizens, and kill to their liking. EVERYTHING that can, must be done to stop them, stop this war, and to save Ukrainian lives.

I, therefore, propose that the seized Antonov An-124 [RA-82078] "Ruslan" has its ownership changed from the current Volga-Dnepr Airlines to Ukrainian Authorities.

First of all, such a move will allow for Ukraine to deliver more humanitarian aid and military equipment that it dearly needs to support its population and win the war against the Russian Federation. Having been built in Ukraine, our pilots are capable of flying and maintaining this aircraft.

Second of all, the transfer of this plane will also put pressure on Russia to return the international leased aircraft that it is currently withholding from its owners due to the fear that more of its planes that are currently impounded across the world would have their ownership changed as well.

Third of all, it will provide some relief and reparation for the destruction of Antonov An-225 "Mriya".

I, Iegor Satyr, implore you to sign this petition! By doing so, each one of your signatures will put enough pressure on the Canadian Government to discuss this matter in Parliament and to pass a bill that will transfer the ownership of Antonov An-124 [RA-82078] "Ruslan" to Ukrainian Authorities for use in aiding its war effort and its population.
