Why this petition matters

Started by space muffins

Recently a new law was passed, causing trans women to be unable to play school related sports, as it is believed to be “unfair”. Trans women are women and should not be held back from athletic opportunities for not being assigned female at birth. This new law is harmful for young trans women who are already facing huge issues such as discrimination from peers and from older members in their own communities, home lives, and school settings. Being held back from athletic opportunities can be damaging for mental health and for physical health. In modern society, physical health is more crucial than ever to be kept in good shape and we need to continue trying to expand opportunities instead of taking them from our youth, and even our older students rather than take this away from them, simply because they weren’t born with their proper gender. Being in a male body doesn’t change the fact all women are built different, not one the same and with all different strength.
We need to bring back basic human rights, trans people and anyone in the LGTBQIA+ community included as well. Signing this will help bring awareness and hopefully be able to help this situation, and truly make a better community for trans people alike.
