All Internet Service Providers (ISP) in India must abolish Fair Usage Policy (FUP).

Did you know that your Internet service providers (ISP) are dictating “how much” of the Internet you may use? Leading ISPs, such as Airtel, Idea, Vodafone, Jio and others are throttling, your allotted usage. The ISPs term it as Fair Usage Policy (FUP).
As a user who supports a free and open Internet, I am more than willing to pay for the service. However, the ISP must not dictate how much Internet I can use. The ISPs have unilaterally decided a FUP limit and applied it to all subscribers. They market their Internet data services as Unlimited Data but the moment one touches the FUP limit, the speed reduces to a pathetic 64 or 128 kbps.
This practice is infuriating to customers, so why do ISPs do it? ISPs have repeatedly stated that FUP help ease congestion, but that is far from true. The reality is that ISPs applying FUP are more about making money than relieving congestion.
The Internet is about world-wide access to information, but information is of little use if we cannot obtain complete access. Having a capped Internet cannot help but hurt access to businesses and home users–particularly with today’s media bandwidth requirements growing by leaps and bounds. This is a clear violation and a potential bottleneck for the freedom of information around the world. Who are ISPs to dictate how you use the Internet? Please sign this petition to ask ISPs to abolish FUP.
