Reverse the decision to stop community football teams using Longford Park

We believe that recent decisions taken by Trafford Council and Trafford Leisure Trust threaten the future of three award-winning community football clubs.
The latest decisions - which were taken without any consultation with the clubs - are to remove the 11 aside junior football pitch from Longford Park and to withdraw permission for junior football teams to use fixed football posts on the 9 aside junior pitch in the park.
The result will be a serious threat to the futures of the clubs involved - all of which are volunteer-run and two of them benefiting hundreds of youngsters in the North Trafford area.
Longford Park is close to the world's most famous football club - Manchester United - and was used by the Busby Babes themselves. It is disappointing and indeed incredible that - instead of encouraging community football and improving facilities in Longford Park - the council and leisure trust's decision threatens its very future. The clubs affected are: North Trafford Athletic JFC, Longford Girls FC and Gorse Hill FC.
