Why this petition matters

Started by Dave Burton

As residents of High Marnham we have seen an increase in vehicles speeding or failing to slow down along Hollowgate Lane. There have been several near misses with vehicles over recent weeks and its only a matter of time before there's a collision. Whether this is traffic for The Brownlow Arms, caravan sites, boat club, residents or delivery drivers (including the odd postman...), it is only a matter of time before a child, dogwalker, pet or cyclist is seriously hurt.
There are currently only four 30MPH signs upon entering the village (two by Hill Farm and two on the adjoining road from Low Marnham - which are mostly ignored and one obscured by a hedge).
We would like traffic calming measures are put in place down Hollowgate Lane by means of multiple priority narrowing places, speed humps (not bumps), improved road signage including VAS (vehicle activated signs) & reducing the speed limit to 20MPH through the village.
Having discussed the matter with our local councillors, they have advised starting this petition.
We believe this will improve the welfare, well-being & safety for local residents and visitors.
