Stephanie Addis started this petition to Trader Joe's and

Manatee Village was once a bustling, grocery anchored center featuring a Winn Dixie and several small businesses. When Sweetbay closed all of their stores in the area, Winn Dixie moved just south to a newer building. The owners at the time unfortunately allowed Manatee Village to fall into a state of disrepair and, eventually, foreclosure. The new ownership group purchased the property in late 2020 with plans to reinvigorate the center. In fact, facade upgrades are already underway with a target completion date of early summer 2022.

The residents of Tarpon Springs currently have only a select few options when it comes to buying groceries: Publix, Walmart, Winn Dixie, and some other small independent food stores. When the new ownership group met with City Council shortly after their purchase of the property, the overwhelming feedback was that the residents would like to have a Trader Joe's. The closest existing Trader Joe's locations are nearly an hour drive to Tampa or St Petersburg.

There is a very strong opportunity presented with this potential location for a number of reasons:

-North Pinellas location that would pull customers from Clearwater, Palm Harbor, Dunedin, East Lake, and Oldsmar - just to name a few

-Shoppers can avoid the congestion and impending major construction along US Highway 19

-New ownership group is invested in the property and the area and are long-term holders

And best of all - the people of Tarpon Springs WANT you here!

This location would nicely round out the presence of Trader Joe's in the Tampa Bay market, without getting lost amongst other competitors in areas such as Clearwater and Palm Harbor.
