Recently, the Federal Government had introduced the Emergency On-Farm Support Fund program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This program provided funding to support protections for both domestic and temporary foreign workers and address COVID-19 outbreaks on farms. This program provided up to $100,000 per recipient in non-repayable, cost-shared funding. However, many BC farmers missed out on this opportunity due to the lack of awareness as the deadline for this program was in Fall 2020.

During these unprecedent times, many BC farmers could benefit from this program immensely to support adequate safety measures for their on-farm workers. Last year alone had its own challenges for farmers in BC, in addition to the pandemic, farmers struggled with lower crop yields due to early cold damage. In addition to all this, farmers were expected to put their limited finances into their farm operations to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to ensure their workers' safety.

To ensure that BC farmers can continue to enhance their workers safety during the on-going pandemic, it is very important that this program be reopened and become available to BC farmers’ once again. We seek your help in raising voices in support of BC farmers to improve the health and safety of farm workers in limiting the spread of COVID-19 in their agricultural operations.

Please find more information about this program on the Investment Agriculture Foundation website included in the link below. Also, please check out the link to see if you are eligible for this program. Let's unify to bring this program back for our farmers!
