On January 15th, 2016, Mattel officially announced plans to launch a Thundercats Classic collector action figure line via a monthly subscription name "Club Third Earth" via their mattycollector website. The monthly subscription will officially begin in September with the launch of the Lion-O action figure and will continue through the end of this year.
Thousand of fans of the hit animated series including myself have subscribed to this program with the hopes that the Thundercats will finally receive the robust and diverse toy line it has always deserved but Mattel has recently announced that they have decided to do away with their collector-driven branch which is responsible for the Masters of The Universe Classics and Thundercats line effective December 31st, 2016. An agreement has been made to pass the responsibility of managing the adult brand to Super7 which mainly focuses on reproductions of vintage toys for Masters of The Universe. As a result of this corporate decision, the future of Thundercats Classic action figure line may very likely be in peril and possibly end up cancelled before us fans can even get the chance to own so many beloved and core characters from this timeless animated series from the 80's.
Being that the Thundercats license is not a Mattel brand, but rather a licensed brand through Warner Bros, we need to come together globally and demand that this toy line remain alive and that additional figures, vehicles and possible play sets be produced in collaboration with Four Horsemen Studios to provide Thundercats fans across the world the opportunity to finally own a complete modernized collector-based assortment of toys based on the hit animated series form the 80's.
Mattel, we're loving the appetizers but we demand the full course meal!
