Hello! My name is Danielle Williams and I wanted to start this petition at Towson University for all people who need sanitary products during the school day. My university is one of the top universities in Maryland so its safe to say that I was a bit surprised that in the Womens restrooms there are not any sanitary products. In most public restrooms there are at least "vending machines" that have sanitary products in them. At Towson you can access sanitary needs and other products at the health center but as a woman myself and I am sure many others feel the same, sometimes just having your period come out of no where and having nothing to use or feeling like you have no one to ask can feel embarrassing. Sanitary products can also be really expensive in local stores and markets. As college students there is no way that someone who is living on their own, covering their own expenses, working, and in school have the time or resources to buy 30 dollars worth of sanitary products from Target or Walmart. In many cases women go as far as to using napkins or toilet paper in the stalls to make makeshift pads. If Towson University provided these things then girls would not have to worry about the ordeal of being in need and asking around if anyone has a tampon. I know that my school has enough resources to make this happen and I want to make sure that every woman feels comfortable in the school environment, and something like this can just make Womens lives that much easier.
