Speed bumps to slow down traffic on High Street
Speed bumps to slow down traffic on High Street
I am creating this petition to address the speeding vehicles on High Street, in Nutley NJ. I am asking for measures to slow down traffic and simply enforce the speed limit law of 25 mph.
I have been living here for over 15 years and the area has gotten much more populated and speeding cars and trucks are more dense than ever.
I am asking for this petition to be considered to by the Nutley NJ Commissioners to address speeding cars on High St, in Nutley. High street is almost 100% Residential, near a school zone. I have witnessed at least a half dozen accidents over the years on High Street, in addition to speeding vehicles every day. I have seen a car go off the road and hit a tree and over the sidewalk where anyone of us could’ve been walking our dog at that time and gotten killed. I know that there have been several incidences of cars hitting parked cars even with people in them, and there was even a car that hit a house.
I would like to request that Nutley Commissioners look at the safety of high Street to make this area safer for our residents and more walkable. The citizens have a right to a safe walkable neighborhood!
1. We need to address the street lamp lighting, which is extremely dim or missing in certain areas on High Street, making it dangerous to walk and drive at night.
2. We need to put speed bumps on High Street to slow down traffic.
3. Put a a flashing yellow light at the crosswalk to indicate to vehicles that someone is trying to cross the street.
4. Place police cars around to monitor speeders and check to see that vehicles are stopping for pedestrians, and give out tickets to those offenders.
These measures taken together to make neighborhoods more walkable- and safer, which encourages walking and helps people stay healthy!
Please sign this petition to ask for speed bumps, monitoring and ticking of speeding vehicles, and more traffic control measures on High Street in Nutley NJ. Thank you, fellow citizens.
