The Greater Vancouver Zoo in Aldergrove, BC is a sad place for any animal to live their life. Virtually all zoos are places of confinement, uncomfortable weather conditions, and lack of natural stimulation. However, the Greater Vancouver Zoo is among the worst of them. Its business licence needs to be cancelled.

A 2019 report prepared for the Vancouver Humane Society by Zoocheck Inc. cited "lack of space for certain species, lack of appropriate environmental conditions, lack of environmental and behavioural enrichment, lack of shelter and privacy areas, lack of proper social contexts, excess ground water and water logging of enclosure substrates."

A recent photograph of an emaciated moose at the Zoo named Oakleaf is again causing public outrage against the Zoo. The Zoo business is licenced by the Township of Langley. Part 7 of the Township's Licencing Bylaw authorizes the Licencing Inspector to cancel a business license for reasonable cause, including for misconduct in respect of the business. Surely lack of care of innocent animals is a reasonable basis for cancellation of the Zoo's business license. Please support this petition to the Township of Langley's Licencing Inspector for cancellation of the business licence issued to the Greater Vancouver Zoo.
