Bring Coach Hoar Back to Yarmouth Sailing!!!

We the undersigned urge our elected Town Selectman and our appointed Town Administrator to restore Coach Jim Hoar as the Director of the Yarmouth Sailing program, a position he has held for 33 years.

The Sailing program has grown and prospered under Coach Hoar’s leadership and steady guidance for more than three decades.  Thousands of sailing students and their families have benefitted from this program, it’s extraordinary safety record, and the personal instruction provided.

Coach Hoar has also built bridges throughout our community and successfully solicited countless donations.  In fact, almost the entire Cape Cod Knockabout fleet of seventeen boats the Town of Yarmouth now owns, and at least four Lasers, were donated to the program because of Coach Hoar’s outreach.  The program is financially sound and brings in double what it costs to run.

Coach Hoar’s reputation is beyond reproach.  He is an eminently fair man, whose word is his bond.  We need more people like Coach Hoar in leadership positions influencing our future generations.

In short, there isn’t any legitimate, logical or rational reason to make a change.

The Town Selectman and Town Administrator are urged to immediately correct this injustice and not hide behind bureaucratic maneuvering.  We the community demand that you listen to the will of the people of Yarmouth and sailing students everywhere.
