Thomas DAuria started this petition to Major Paul A. Sarlo

Overview: Wright Place Townhome residents are petitioning to the Town of Wood-Ridge to add speed bumps throughout Roosevelt Dr. in Wood-Ridge, NJ to reduce the speeding down the road that happens on a daily basis (from residents, delivery drivers, construction, etc.). Let's address the issue now and not wait until a tragic incident occurs before addressing the issue.

Issue: There are a number of drivers daily who are going well above the 15 mph zone (some 50+ mph) and the residents in Wright Place Townhomes are fearful this will lead to a tragic accident given the number of young children, families, local residents riding bikes, people walking with pets, etc. around the development on a daily basis.

Temporary Solution: The town has made an attempt to mitigate the issue (Cops patrolling more often + sign telling drivers to slow down), unfortunately, it has not fixed the issue as we continue to see drivers ignore speed limits down the straightaway. This issue will just become worse once the rest of Roosevelt Dr. is paved (almost finished with construction).

Solutions Throughout the Greater Community: There are currently permanent solutions in place to help reduce speeding throughout the community (listed below). We are asking the town of Wood-Ridge to take similar measures on Roosevelt Dr.

  • Stop signs: Throughout the development (e.g. Wesmont Dr. + Truman Dr.)
  • Speedbumps: There are (3) on Johnson Dr. (the road between development and Warehouses that led to train station)

Thanks

Tom
