Why this petition matters

Started by Stas Alekseev

In Weston, Massachusetts, there is a road called North Ave that is also known as State Route 117. On the eastern edge of Weston on this road there are seven houses (including Goddard School) before Lexington St that are not accessible by pedestrians via sidewalk. Pedestrians take the risk to use this part of the State Route 117 to walk towards the Kendal Green Commuter Rail station or the bus stop since the traffic is very bad.

Often times, cars are going so fast that pedestrians are in danger of being hit or injured. The owner of one of the houses has a baby who she takes for a walk in a stroller every day trying to make it safely to the closest intersection with Lexington
street.

Building a sidewalk could not only help pedestrians but also help decrease pollution. People in the nearby neighborhoods could use it to exercise and dog walking. If you could walk somewhere instead of driving, wouldn't you? It'd save your gas money and allow you to enjoy the beautiful scenery outside.

In conclusion, the eastern part of North Ave before the Lexington street could really use a sidewalk. It could save life of tons of pedestrians who walk this busy road every day, potentially decrease pollution, increase local workouts, and allow neighborhoods to grow closer together!

Creation of a visible traffic light that would assist in crossing Route 117 for Commuter Rail passengers would also be of immense help.
