Let's keep our neighborhood safe!  Many of us live on or near Canoe Brook Road, specifically area of the South Beach of Canoe Brook Lake Association. We are more concerned than ever. Every day there are speeding cars that are traveling well above the posted speed limit of 25mph. There are pedestrians, joggers, and children crossing the street to access the lake all summer long. The hedges bordering the south end of the lake pose a particular risk for them due to the excessive speed of traffic on Canoe Brook. The accident that resulted in the tragic death of Lisa Cimmino was the last straw.

Despite our complaints, letters to the town, phone calls, and placing orange cones in and by the street, nothing has been done. We hope that the tragic loss of Lisa’s life will not be in vein and are asking the Town of Trumbull to please put stop signs in BOTH directions at the corner of Maymont and Canoe Brook Road to slow down the traffic on Canoe Brook Rd. With stop signs in place, vehicles would be able to drive slowly on Canoe Brook Rd and allow for drivers to easily see pedestrians, bicycles, strollers, and children. 

Please don’t wait for another unthinkable tragedy to occur, this time possibly involving a child, before taking this simple step to help in keeping our community safe.
