Discrimination against a business purportedly because of the sexual orientation of its customer base is ridiculous and should not be an issue, even in MS, is the 21st century.

This petition is important because it is absurd that this town would reject this business license for obvious reasons (being an LGBTQ friendly establishment). This is prejudiced and unfair since the business meets all the requirements to be granted the license to open. I also have a bisexual friend who lives in Tupelo, and I would like for her to be able to visit an establishment where she doesn't have to worry about the social stigma surrounding being anything but white, Christian, and heterosexual. I hope this decision is reversed and this bar opens.

LGBT people exist in MS, and they have the same inherent rights as anyone else. We do not fight for our rights; they are already ours. We fight against those who oppress that which we were endowed at birth.

I am from Shannon, Mississippi. I moved away 5 years ago. I was appalled to read about my hometown and am sadden that they have rejected the license. This is wrong and should never have happened.

This is important to me because no town should be so bigoted that they would deny a business person the right to operate based solely on personal religious beliefs. I am a Christian, and I am tired of other Christians using our faith as a tool of hatred.

I've been a victim of the Town of Shannon as well in this same manner.

My girlfriend & I were kicked out of JR's because they didn't want "our kind" in there. How amazing that a request to open a bar is denied because the owner refuses to discriminate against "our kind".
