Please help stop town of Schererville Eminent Domain abuse! I had know idea this is a problem here in the Tri-town area and not just Schererville until it happens to you and you start to uncover all the dirt. Its happening to my father and his elderly neighbors in down town Schererville and many more. The town uses vague verbiage in the use of the land. And then they turn it into something else. It’s happening behind closed doors with absolutely no negotiating. You just have to go to court and pay $$$ which these vulnerable, elderly people on fixed incomes don’t have. With what the town offered, he’s forced to leave Schererville. The town offered him less than what he pays in taxes on the assessed value of his home for the last several years. The appraiser listed his house with aluminum siding and he has a brick house. The town manager looked us in the eye and said this is a fair offer. As we know the market is ridiculously high in Schererville and in general in the US. Schererville uses the same attorneys as St. John. In the Guzzo vs Town of St. John case The Town of St. John lost after 7 years �‍♀️all the way to the Supreme Court for unfair compensation offerings of their land. These attorneys use your tax payers dollars to fund their pockets. �They won’t stop the law suit because it’s more money in their pockets. How can the average person or elderly on fixed income fight attorneys that have access to endless tax payers money.  They can’t afford to so they just sign. The town did it to the Speedway race track and Fun center and many more. I found on record currently the town wants more of the speedway land from another home owner. Isn’t 51 acres of the speedways Eminent Domain land enough. I found this on public records. Please contact your town.  Please remember to Vote. If we don’t have ethical people representing our town, they will continue to bulldoze and you or your business may be next!
