Casey Ludwig, owner of Lakewood Zoo is trying to get a USDA license for his facility. He needs this license to reopen the zoo after Oconto County pulled his conditional use permit. The ticket issued by the Town of Riverview will prevent Lakewood Zoo from obtaining the needed USDA permit.
Casey has been providing a home for Lions, Bears, and Tigers that were no longer wanted by their private owners. Some of these animals were in fact abused, and Lakewood Zoo took them in and nursed them back to health.
Lakewood Zoo is facing the possibility of having to permanently shut down and find homes for all the animals as they are not open, therefore not bringing in any money to care for the animals. The Zoo is closed in the winter, so summer months are the time when income is brought in to run the zoo.
Casey (Lakewood Zoo) has been working to complete various things to obtain all necessary permits to open the facility again. Lakewood Zoo now has a board of directors, and a Lead Zoo Keeper who came from Pennsylvania. Lakewood Zoo has insurance as well. New enclosures are being built so the animals have more room. The new Apollo Center will be home to over twenty rescued and abandoned tigers.
These animals are well cared for by Casey and his staff. Their heart is to rescue and provide homes for these abandoned and abused animals. Some of these animals lived in small cages, one had urine burns on his paws when Casey picked him up. This tiger (Angel) is now in great health!
Please help Casey's animals by signing this petition! Why do these beautiful animals that people want to see have to suffer because of bureaucratic nonsense?
