STOP THE LOCAL SEWER IMPROVEMENT CHARGE

Parrsboro Citizens started this petition to Municipality of Cumberland County Murray Scott and

Whereas the Town of Parrsboro was mandated to treat the sewage collected by the town by 2020.

Whereas the Town of Parrsboro had a 20-year plan to treat existing sewage.

Whereas the elected officials and senior staff change within the Town of Parrsboro ( the scope of the sewer project changed as well.)

Whereas the new scope of the sewer project extended to areas of the former Town of Parrsboro serviced by individual septic systems.

Whereas the the sewer project was over budget, municipal staff was asked to investigate other options.

Whereas the Whitehall Rd.  area was dropped from the project therefore other streets and areas could have been dropped to allow for a fully fundable project.

Whereas Upper Main Street was for future development of the East section of Chambers Blvd.

Whereas the overcharges have been charged to the 445 residents and businesses at $4941 flat or financed with interest over 20 years.

We, the residents of Parrsboro and Cumberland County, request the Local Improvement Charge be removed from the 445 residents and businesses.  This project, other than treatment of existing sewer outflow for those properties connected to the existing sewer infrastructure, was not required by the 445 residents and businesses being held financially responsible.  This project in fact was designed to allow future development of the Parrsboro shore area, to the benefit of the entire Municipality of Cumberland County.

If you are opposed to the local improvement charge please sign!  Thank You.
