Town of Newmarket Opt IN for a Cannabis Storefront

With the recent legalization of cannabis in Canada, the Town of Newmarket has recently opted out from a cannabis storefront. Unfortunately, this decision has taken away potential job opportunities and a safer, more reliable way for consumers to gain access to cannabis. It is strongly believed that a storefront will make it easier for minors to get their hands in cannabis, but that is not the case. Just like the LCBO, storefronts are required by law to check id’s & turn away minors. Without an in town storefront, the black market for cannabis is still in business making it easier for minors to gain access, putting money in the hands of criminals and exposing people to potentially poisoned cannabis. The main goal for this petition is to get councils attention & for them to re-think their decision to opt out of an in town storefront.
