Numerous studies have shown the Ben Sawyer Boulevard corridor to be an important gateway to Mt. Pleasant, one worthy of protection.  Quiet neighborhoods have developed along the corridor, along with a number of commercial entities, bounded on the sides by old Mt. Pleasant neighborhoods on Center St, McCants Drive, Rifle Range Road and Ben Sawyer Boulevard.

Ben Sawyer, is quite frankly, a dangerous area - high speeds, numerous ingress and egress patterns in close proximity to one another and a suicide lane are just a few of these dangers.  Recent development of the Oyster Park apartments has stressed the area, and renovation of the former Bi-Lo site will only add to the ever increasing pressure on the inadequate infrastructure.  Once the Atlantic Apartment complex comes on line the situation will continue to get worse. 

This petition is designed to bring visibility to the further degradation of quality of life for the area residents In North Point, New Parish Way, Home Farm, Bay Club, Simmons Point and those along McCants Drive and Center Street.  Ben Sawyer Boulevard must be improved before any further development is approved, the two must go hand in hand.  Please sign and share, write Town Council and attend meetings!  Make your voices heard, be informed and help drive change.
