Vote NO to the OVERDEVELOPMENT of Holbrook! NO zone change to build Lincoln Apartments!

The Town of Islip has been approving zone changes and major projects at an accelerated rate recently.  The Heartland project, the Ronkonkoma Hub, and Islip Pines were all passed within the last few years. These MAJOR projects will dramatically impact the landscape of our town and infastructure.

Some time in the beginning of April signs were posted to change the zone of the land parcel on Lincoln Ave adjacent to Robert St. Park. The project is to build 66 units bringing 132+ people and cars to burden the quiet surrounding residents and families. Conveniently the signs were not on the north park facing side where most of the community gathers. The website had fake numbers listed and no contact information so concerned neighbors were unable to obtain more information prior to the hearing.

April 25th a Public hearing occured where the owner/developer pleaded their case. They stated they had a community meeting and recieved feedback. Not one of the 50-60 Holbrook residents in the room who live in close proximity to this location had heard or were invited to this supposed meeting.

About a dozen residents spoke to implore the board to deny the application for MANY valid reasons. In the end it was reserved for further review.

Enough is enough! We still do not know the ramifications the Hub will have on Lincoln ave. There already there are complaints for speeding and blowing stop signs directly near and surrounding the park and project in question.

These concerns are well documented with the monthly 5th precinct COPE meetings where concerned residents have frequently requested increase patrol at these intersections.

We the residents do NOT want this, the roads are already congested in that area putting children who play at the park at risk. There are no side walks or sufficient traffic controlling devices in the area to start. Coates ave and Lincoln ave are already a major thruway for union and vets hwy.

Sachem school districts are already in crisis with the recent school closures, redistricting and crowding.

Most of Holbrook are single family homes, keeping with the desired esthetic of our long island communities.

In fact walking distance from my house TWENTY single family homes have been built or are in the process of being built within this year. These have all sold immediately!

Holbrook attracts nice housing, strong community focused families and the hometown feel your proud to raise a family in.

Please take the time to sign this petition.

Adding a personal note to the Board on why you feel this will negatively impact yours and your neighbors quality of life will help stregnthen our cause.

We are not suited lawyers, overpaid environmental firms, or out of town contractors we are HOLBROOK and we know what OUR town needs.

We the residents who vote for the town officials do NOT want to leave this legacy for our beloved community.

VOTE NO to the Lincoln Apartments! VOTE NO to the overdevelopment of our community!
