Crystal Silvas started this petition to Town of Huntersville and

In 2018 the Community School of Davidson got the deed for roughly 42 acres of land at 13828 Beatties Ford Road Huntersville, NC 28078 to build its athletic complex (the facility is 10 miles from its school). There were no signs posted or community meetings to discuss adding an athletic complex to a rural area where most parents will never have a vested interest since our children are not able to attend CSD.

Our community surrounding the complex with many houses between 500-1000 ft away is being kept awake by games and events, woken up by Saturday morning events, and told by the CSD athletic director Jay Martin that he doesn't care, and they won't turn it down. Our lives, property values, and community are being hurt by CSD's athletic complex.

We ask for the following to be implemented immediately.

1. Finish sidewalks and landscaping surrounding the CSD athletic complex. This has made it unsafe for children to walk to school. They were not supposed to get their certificate of occupancy until sidewalks were done.

2. Install community approve sound system and sound proofing to mitigate the effect on surrounding homes.

3. Lighting that includes sharp cut-off reflectors and high-efficiency reflectors to gain the below.

Angle of illumination - Distance from stadium perimeter - Max lux
Horizontal spill - 50m from stadium perimeter - 25 lux
Horizontal spill - 200m further - 10 lux
Maximum vertical - 50m from stadium perimeter - 40 lux
Maximum vertical - 200m from stadium perimeter - 20 lux

4. Change in the Town of Huntersville ordinance that allows for the building of an athletic complex without community notification/meetings.
