Fellow residents of Clifton Park, there is currently a petition before the Town of Clifton Park Zoning Board of Appeals for a variance to change the use of One Barney Road (the two story structure located next to the Barney Road Pool) from commercial/office to multifamily (apartments). It is our understanding that the owners of One Barney Road previously indicated to the town that they wanted to build a three to four story structure with up to 54 studio, one, two or three bedroom units, however at the Town Board meeting held on February 20 Town officials indicated they understood the current request was to convert the existing structure to apartments. Such a structure is not permitted under the zoning for this neighborhood and we feel the requested change in “use” will unquestionably disrupt and alter the essential character of the neighborhood, create safety issues, and disrupt, alter and complicate public access to town public facilities, including but not limited to the Barney Road Swimming Pool and the Barney Road Golf Course.

This issue is currently on the agenda for the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 6 at 7pm at Town Hall. This is a public hearing so we encourage you all to not only sign the petition but attend the meeting as well!!
We the undersigned residents of the Town of Clifton Park, NY object to the issuance of a “use variance”, or any other variance and/or change in zoning that would allow multi-family residential use on or at real property known as One Barney Road, Clifton Park, NY (Tax Map No. 277.-1-27.11); now and at any time in the future; as the requested change in “use” would create safety issues, disrupt, alter and complicate public access to town public facilities, including but not limited to the Barney Road Swimming Pool and the Barney Road Golf Course.
