Why this petition matters

The Applicant is proposing to build a private school at 31 and 41 West Clarkstown Road, near New Hempstead Road, in New City.

The Applicant plans on demolishing two existing single-family homes, combining their lots, and constructing a 37,495 square foot private school for 600 students (grades K-8) to include 50 parking spaces, and utilizing 15 school buses in a predominantly residential (R-40 zone) neighborhood.

CUPON Clarkstown believes this proposed project will have a significant adverse impact on the community.

IF THIS PROJECT IS APPROVED:

-- it will fundamentally and permanently alter the residential character of the neighborhood;

--it will increase traffic and safety concerns by overloading the already heavily congested traffic in the area; and

-- it will likely compound the flooding incidents that already impact the neighborhoods.

An approval of this application will permit this project to negatively alter the quality of life of the West Clarkstown Road neighborhood, and those that travel through the area.

In order to preserve the residential character of West Clarkstown Road; to safeguard it and neighboring streets from further vehicular congestion and safety concerns; and to protect from compounding existing flooding issues in the surrounding neighborhood, CUPON Clarkstown asks that you sign our petition to present to the Town of Clarkstown. Thank you for your support.
