Why this petition matters

Started by Kate Conway

On May 25th, just after 1am, 20-year-old Sagamore Beach Resident Colin Crowley fell asleep while driving home from work and struck a tree in his neighborhood - he was walking distance to his home when he died. He had just graduated from Cape Cod Community College the week before, and had been looking forward to Tuesday, his day off. He had plans that day to play golf with his best friends at Sandwich Hollows and enjoy dinner later with his girlfriend. His loss was staggering to the community.

A sweet young man with a permanent smile, he was a well-loved cook at the local Whaleback restaurant and a former Lacrosse and football player for the Bourne Canalmen. He volunteered tirelessly for the Eagles in Buzzards Bay, spending holidays feeding those in need.

After his death, his friends, Jack Neil and Jimmy Manning, along with his girlfriend of eight years, Kalli Conway, set out to accomplish two things for Colin: raise money for his family and secure permission from the Town of Bourne to place a bench in his name at the corner of Robinson Road and Clark Road in Sagamore Beach - a space that overlooks one of Colin's favorite places: Clark Field.

Kalli, Jack, and Jimmy and the generosity of so many, have raised the money through Go Fund Me for Colin's father and sister, and they were given another donation to pay for the bench.

Now, they need signatures - YOUR signatures - to present to the Town of Bourne. In signing, you too are saying that you are in favor of Colin's bench to be placed in his beloved Sagamore Beach, so that wherever he may be, he still has a spot among his neighbors, friends, and family as he watches them play at Clark Field.
